Stem cells preservation- a new ray of hope for endangered animals

04 Nov

While searching for alternatives to save the animals listed under endangered and threatened list, scientist have found a new ray of hope in this direction. Generally, the animals listed in this list are considered close to extinction which means these will never inhabit the land in future which is horrible to think. Therefore, while conservationists are trying to save them from extinction, scientists are trying ways to bring them back on earth. The new research has said that, if the stem cells are preserved form endangered animals, one could imagine reproducing them in future. This doesn’t practically helps the endangered animals to be on earth but really gives a ray of hope to see them in future.

This is considered as an effective and reliable option than cloning because with the help of stem cells one could reproduce the animal almost naturally. The theory says that with the help of these preserved cells, the scientists will derive productive elements maintaining the gene structure and then it is rooted into a healthy female to have the specific animal embryo. This theory is getting world acknowledgement as it is not a thing of future but is already established and well conceived by the experts. Use of stem cells is already suggested for curing several disorders and other medicinal ailments due to its capacity to alter the basic structure.

One could derive basic egg and sperm out of the stem cells which is why, production of animals on endangered lists from them seems completely achievable. Many scientists in this line have already started collecting stem cells from animals of different species. They agree that, this is definitely a daunting task and would require positive conditions and backup to achieve the result. They also agree that this procedure will require a great deal of time as the endangered animals are distributed throughout the world hence they urge on initiating the process to have large scale preservation. Though it is a potential option but conservationists are urging on basic protection of the endangered animals by reducing the pollution and other climatic factors responsible for extinction.

Overall, stem cell prevention could really help the animals to re-enter the blue planet in course of time.
